The World Is Flat 3.0: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century

As I was studying Internet Marketing, online visibility and eCommerce, I couldn’t agree more with Thomas Friedman’s view of globalization.  The world is now a leveled playing field because of technology.  The Internet, specifically, enabled some stay-at-home moms to earn as much as a top rank CEO would in year.   Browsing through the web, you will find websites of small time sellers looking as professional as the big guys.  Both attracting customers with unlimited markets.   Communication has never been this possible and affordable.  My sisters who are residing in Australia and Canada gets to chat with me everyday. I get to talk with them more often than I do with my neighbors next door. When I was working in a call center, we used predictive dialers to automatically make calls without having to key in phone numbers. One quick call after the other. So quick that I get to talk to around people 20 people in an hour. And they have no idea that the caller is continents away from them.  The world that was believed to be flat was known to be round and now perceived to be flat (again).  Magellan would definitely dispute this new perception.  But if he were alive today, I’m pretty sure he would have just browsed eBay or Amazon for spices and gold.
