WOW Is A Teleport Hub

Categories:  Gaming, World of Warcraft

I haven’t played the World of Warcraft for about 8 months now.  Been juggling work, personal projects, home and motherhood all at once since December last year.  And WOW gaming sadly had been pushed down to the bottom of my priority list.  I miss the game and especially the fun I have when I’m in it.

Playing WOW is very much like entering a whole new different world. Why is it addictive and destructive for some?  Probably because once you set foot in Azeroth, you feel this immense freedom, power and control over yourself and all resources around you – things that you don’t get as easily in real life – at least for some.  You can be someone and no one would care how you look or how rich or poor you are in real life.  Gaming could be a terrible habit if it’s being used to escape relationship problems, financial difficulties and other real challenges that are making this physical life unbearable or exasperating.

If you’re a mom, wife, daughter or girlfriend of someone playing WOW and you feel that it’s eating up the other person’s life, I suggest you check your relationship status.  See if there are resentments or unresolved issues and WOW is their way of venting out.  It will also be wise to let the other person know how his gaming makes you feel and how it’s affecting your home.  You may also agree on play hours so that family time is not sacrificed.  And if you are ever interested, get to know the game and play together… why not?

WOW is a great game but just like fame, money and food, having too much of it (in an overwhelming proportion) can be detrimental.  I believe “Self-Control” is listed in gifts of the Spirit for a reason.  WOW players need to practice this virtue… don’t we all?

Pre-Cataclysm Promo Packs

Pre-Cataclysm Promo Packs

Blizzard is giving away epic savings with $5 World of WarCraft, $5 The Burning Crusade, and $10 Wrath of the Lich King.  You’ll also get 37% savings when you pre-order Cataclysm.  The promo ran for more than a month and will end today, November 30th.  I purchased my Wrath upgrade for $10 instead of $39.99 at the last minute :D   I’ve been off from the battleground for a long while as I chose to focus on corporate matters.  Now I think I owe myself a break.  So this is it – an advance Christmas gift to myself.

Oh by the way, when you grab this promotional offer, you can choose to give one (game time) to another player.  So if you know someone who’d been away from Azeroth, now is the best time to cast that scroll of resurrection.

WOW Cataclysm to Launch December 7, 2010

cataclysmlogsmall“WOW Cata” is the upcoming third expansion for World of Warcraft.  Blizzard is totally up and about beckoning all past players to return to Azeroth by giving free 7-day game time.  They send these invites over email, which goes out mostly to those who have had paid for more than a couple of months in-game.  I received 2 invitations and I have graciously accepted!  The first one was 2 months ago but I only got to level up my Leather working and Hunting.  I didn’t play after that and resumed my hiatus.  And now I got another free game time.  Unfortunately for me, I accepted the freebie not realizing I needed to upgrade to the latest patch first.  And the patch already took 2 days and as I speak, it’s still 75% completed.  My goodness… I could have just waited.  I was too excited to check what has changed since that time I left my Deetsie hunter in Azeroth.  Oh by the way, hackers are lurking out there so make sure the emails you reply to are legit Blizzard emails and not WOW account log phishers.

So they say the target date to launch is December 7th, 2010. I reckon, it must be why the last invite I got expires November 30. By December 6th, my free game time would all be spent. And that should get me kickin’ to load up and play on the Cataclysm launch. Good thinking. But as it has always been, target date is a date that Blizzard wants to ship their game, nothing more, nothing less. It means that they have a plan and schedule to get the game ready by. But as everyone knows, game launch schedules can and do change. Some time last year Mike Morhaime, CEO of Blizzard, confirmed during a DirecTV interview that Cataclysm will be launched 2010. The year is almost over so it MUST be this December alright.
